Role Overview

A Headhunter is responsible for identifying, attracting, and recruiting highly qualified candidates for specific job roles, often in high-level or specialized positions. The role involves proactive search methods, networking, and building relationships with top talent to meet the strategic needs of client organizations or internal hiring requirements. This role is essential for identifying and securing top talent that drives organizational success and growth. A successful head-hunter combines strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the talent market.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Sourcing: Actively search for potential candidates through various channels, including networking, social media, job boards, industry events, and direct outreach.

Talent Mapping: Develop a thorough understanding of the talent landscape within specific industries, including identifying key players and high-potential candidates.

Client Relationship Management: Work closely with clients or internal hiring managers to understand their hiring needs and develop tailored recruitment strategies.

Candidate Engagement: Initiate contact with potential candidates, build relationships, and maintain regular communication to keep them engaged throughout the recruitment process.

Screening and Assessment: Evaluate candidate qualifications, including reviewing resumes, conducting initial interviews, and assessing cultural fit and technical skills.

Presentation of Candidates: Present shortlisted candidates to hiring managers, providing detailed profiles and recommendations based on thorough assessments.

Negotiation and Closing: Facilitate negotiations between candidates and hiring managers, including discussions on compensation, benefits, and other terms of employment.

Market Intelligence: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitive intelligence to provide strategic insights and advice to internal stakeholders.

Database Management: Maintain and update a database of potential candidates, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for future reference.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree + MBA/PG in Human Resources; relevant certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) are advantageous.
  • Experience: Proven 10+ experience in NON-IT Hiring - headhunting, recruitment, or executive search, particularly in specialized or senior-level roles.
  • Research: Strong research skills to identify and map talent within specific industries.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and persuade top-tier candidates.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with candidates and clients or hiring managers.
  • Negotiation: Skilled in negotiation and closing deals, with a focus on achieving win-win outcomes.
  • Analytical: Proficient in assessing candidate qualifications and fit for specific roles.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
